EZ Soundboard
A simple tool for a simple job
I liked the idea of having dinosaur sounds I could play though a PA system on my Jeep. While there are a few custom horn speaker kits and generic PAs out there, there wasn’t a dead-simple soundboard for mapping your own sound effects to a few buttons so you could pick effects at will. Until now.
Using a common sound chip board from Adafruit, I designed my own PCB breakout board that maps each of the SFX board trigger pins to a keyboard key in a compact 9-key layout. I also added a 3.5mm jack next to the chip’s USB port.

I designed the PCBs with a couple of Easter Eggs...
Everything fits neatly into a custom 3D-printed enclosure I designed.
The keycaps have removable covers that let you add your own labels for each sound effect.
